In the fall of 2013, the third generation of the Spanish "Lion" was officially replenished with the "ST" version (made in the station wagon body). The novelty made its debut in Frankfurt (its sales in Russia were planned for 2014, but this did not happen - because the brand left our market), and until that moment the third generation of "Lion" was represented only by three-door and five-door hatchbacks.

By the way, the developers announced their desire to replenish the SEAT Leon line with a station wagon back in the fall of 2012, and in the spring of 2013, the first "spy" images of the "ST" modification got to the network ...

And in 2016, along with the entire family, the station wagon underwent modernization.

Outwardly, the SEAT Leon wagon looks quite aesthetically pleasing and modern, while in its contours, especially in the back, one can clearly see the "family" features familiar from the "tribesmen" - "Golf" and "Octavia" (however, this is not surprising, because these cars "Direct relatives" ... though it is worth admitting that the Spaniard looks much more interesting and youthful).

The body length of the "third" station wagon will be 4540 mm, while the wheelbase is completely identical to the hatchback - 2636 mm. Other overall characteristics are similar to those of the hatchback.

But in terms of weight, the station wagon seems to be ready to set records in its class - in the basic version of the SEAT Leon III ST equipment it weighs only 1233 kg.

Interior

About the level of execution and design of the interior space, we can say that - in terms of quality, the interior of the "universal Lion" is not inferior to its brothers in the concern, and in terms of design it is even much more interesting.

The only "minus" is the volume of the trunk, in the compact Spanish station wagon it is noticeably slightly less than in the soplatform "Czech" and "German".

In the standard position, the trunk holds 587 liters, and with the rear seats assembled - 1470 liters.

Specifications

The Spaniards have prepared quite enough engines for the station wagon, so there will be plenty to choose from. In fact, these are the same motors that are offered for the hatchback:

  • For the "start" in the petrol line, 1.2-liter turbo engines are provided:
    • "Junior" is able to develop 86 hp,
    • and "senior" up to 105 hp.
  • "Middle" in the petrol line - 1.4-liter units.
    • the power of the "junior" is 122 hp,
    • and more "forced" - 140 hp.
  • The "top" among gasoline engines is the 1.8-liter engine, which develops 180 hp. (but it is intended for the "FR" modification).

All gasoline engines have four cylinders and are equipped with direct fuel injection and turbochargers.

The line of diesel units is a little "thinner". 1.6-liter turbo engines fit in 90 and 110 hp. respectively, and the 2.0-liter units are already capable of 150 and 184 hp. At the same time, the 184-horsepower diesel engine will also be available only in the "FR" version ...

As for gearboxes, the Spaniards provide a choice between 5 or 6-speed "mechanics", as well as a 7-speed "robot" DSG.

Design features

The Leon 3 ST's chassis, like the hatchback, in versions equipped with engines weaker than 150 hp, has a semi-independent rear suspension with a torsion beam, and in top-end versions - an independent multi-link. In the front, in all cases, the Spaniards install MacPherson struts.

In addition, the "FR" version is additionally equipped with an adaptive DCC suspension (known from the Volkswagen Golf).
