Its potential buyers (according to marketers) are middle-aged family men who practice forays into nature and want to get a "full-fledged crook" ...

This mid-size SUV was declassified online at the end of February 2018, and its full-scale premiere took place two months later at the stands of the Beijing International Auto Show.

The SUV, built on the basis of the Navara pickup truck and borrowing the exterior and interior styling from it, is aimed primarily at Asian countries - where cars of a "similar format" are in demand from the "general public".

The exterior of the Nissan Terra is decorated in the current design of the Japanese brand - the five-door looks attractive, modern and quite brutal.

A solid front end with frowned headlights, a V-shaped radiator grille and a powerful bumper, a monumental silhouette with "muscular" sidewalls and "swollen" wheel arches, a balanced feed with stylish lanterns and a neat bumper - from the outside the "Japanese" is perceived as a real SUV, and in its design there are no conflicting details.

"Terra" is a representative of the mid-size class: it is 4882 mm long, 1835 mm high, and 1850 mm wide. The vehicle's wheelbase reaches 2,745 mm, and its ground clearance is 225 mm (with standard 255/60 R18 wheels).

Inside, the Nissan Terra does not shine with bright design solutions, but it demonstrates a pretty, solid and modern design.

At the direct disposal of the driver are a weighty multifunctional steering wheel with a three-spoke rim and a "smart" but perfectly readable dashboard with two analog dials and a 3.5-inch color display of the on-board computer between them.

The symmetrical center console exposes a 7-inch media center screen and a logically arranged air conditioning unit.

The interior of the SUV is finished with high-quality materials - nice plastics, glossy inserts, "aluminum" decor and more.

By default, the car interior is five-seater. The front riders are supposed to have ergonomically profiled seats with slightly pronounced lateral support bolsters and a large number of adjustments.

On the second row there is a comfortable sofa with a fairly soft filling and a backrest adjustable in tilt angle, an almost flat floor and a good supply of space in all directions.

One of the main advantages of "Terra" is a huge cargo compartment of the correct shape: in normal condition it is able to accommodate about a cubic meter of luggage. "Gallery" is transformed by two unequal sections, increasing the volume of the trunk by half, but in this case a flat floor is not obtained. The full-size spare wheel for the five-door is contained under the bottom (on the brackets).

In the Chinese market, Nissan Terra is equipped with a single gasoline unit - in its engine compartment there is a four-cylinder "aspirated" with a working volume of 2.5 liters with a vertical layout, a distributed injection system, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and variable valve timing technology. It produces 184 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 251 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.

By default, a mid-size SUV relies on a 6-speed manual transmission and a rear-wheel drive transmission, but for an extra charge it can be equipped with a 7-band automatic transmission and Part-time all-wheel drive with a forced-start front axle, a transfer case, a locked rear differential and four modes work (2WD; 4H; Push; 4LO).

It is expected that in other countries for "Terra" will also be offered four-cylinder turbodiesels with a volume of 2.3 and 2.5 liters (familiar from the Navara pickup), developing from 163 to 190 hp.

How good the car is on an asphalt surface - the Japanese have not yet reported. But outside the roads, it is capable of a lot: for example, an SUV can force fords (without special training) up to 600 mm deep, and its entry and exit angles are 32 and 27 degrees, respectively.

At the heart of the Nissan Terra is a ladder frame made of high-strength steel grades. An independent suspension with double wishbones is mounted on the front axle of the five-door, and on the rear there is a dependent structure with coil springs ("in a circle" - with hydraulic shock absorbers and anti-roll bars).

The SUV is equipped with power steering and braking system with disc devices on four wheels (front - ventilated), supplemented by ABS and EBD.

In the Chinese market, Nissan Terra is sold at a price of 169,800 to 245,800 yuan (1.7 ~ 2.45 million rubles), but most likely it will not reach Russia.

The car has: front airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, air conditioning, 18-inch alloy wheels, power windows for all doors, keyless entry to the salon and starting the engine, audio system, multifunction steering wheel, heated front seats, electric drive and heated mirrors, help function when starting uphill, and some other equipment.

"Top" versions "flaunt": six airbags, a media center with a 7-inch screen, dual-zone "climate", LED headlights and lamps, front and rear parking sensors, light and rain sensors, "cruise", a rear-view camera, a panoramic sunroof with electric drive and other modern systems.
