The BMW i3s is a premium class rear-wheel drive subcompact electric car with a “sporty bias” ... It is addressed primarily to urban dwellers (both men and women) who pay special attention to the environment, for whom it is important how the car drives ...

For the first time, the Germans showed the escu to the general public at the end of August 2017 - during an online presentation, simultaneously with a restyled version of the standard "brother".

Externally, the "sporty" BMW i3s can be recognized by modified bumpers (front - with a U-shaped black-gloss section), widened wheel arches and 20-inch "rollers".

Otherwise, it is the same extraordinary electric hatchback that attracts a lot of attention in the city traffic.

In length "esca" is 4011 mm, and in width and height does not exceed 1775 mm and 1578 mm, respectively. A 2570 mm base fits between the wheelsets at the five-door, and under the bottom you can observe a 130 mm ground clearance.

The interior of the BMW i3s does not fundamentally differ from the decoration of a conventional electric car and boasts a spectacular design, well-thought-out ergonomics and environmentally friendly finishing materials.

The car can accommodate four adult riders (including the driver), and its trunk can hold from 260 to 1100 liters of luggage, depending on the condition of the rear sofa.

The "heart" of the BMW i3s is an electric motor with a new control unit and bearings, generating a maximum of 184 horsepower and 270 N • m of torque.

The entire reserve of potential is supplied to the rear wheels by means of a single-stage reduction gear, and the "power" of the power plant is carried out using a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 33.2 kW / h.

From a standstill to 100 km / h, the "sports" hatch accelerates after 6.9 seconds, and is capable of reaching a maximum of 160 km / h.

According to the NEDC cycle, an electric car can travel 280 km on a single charge, but in real conditions - about 180 km.

Like the base model, the Eske is available as an option a two-cylinder petrol engine (in the range extender version) with a capacity of 650 cubic meters and a capacity of 38 hp, not connected to the drive wheels, but simply acting as a generator for recharging the traction batteries. This "economy" increases the "range" of the five-door at once by 150 km.

Structurally, the BMW i3s almost entirely repeats the standard "brother" - it has an aluminum frame on which a body with a carbon base and plastic attachments is installed.

The electric car is equipped with independent suspensions "in a circle" (MacPherson struts in front and a five-link in the rear), disc brakes on all wheels and electric power steering. True, the Eski's chassis is modified - with a wider track and more rigid shock absorbers, springs and lateral stabilizers.

The full-fledged debut of the BMW i3s will be celebrated in September 2017 at the Frankfurt Auto Show, and in November it will begin selling it in the countries of the Old World. In terms of standard and additional equipment, the "sports" electric car differs from the standard model only in the dimension of the wheels.
