The four-seater Toyota GT86 sports car (the Japanese themselves call it "Hachi-Roku") has come a long way from a concept model to a production-ready version, which took two years - for the first time the two-door appeared to the general public in 2009 on the stage of the Tokyo Auto Show as the spiritual successor of the legendary Corolla AE86. In the commercial embodiment, the car, developed by "Toyota" together with the specialists of Subaru, debuted in the fall of 2011 in the capital of the country of the Rising Sun.

And in March 2012, she appeared in all its glory before the Europeans at the Geneva bride.

At the New York exhibition in April 2016, the Japanese showed the world an updated version of the Toyota GT86 (at home and in the USA, the car is known simply as the Toyota 86) - it underwent a slight "plastic" appearance, received pinpoint improvements to the interior and "armed" with new options ... But the two-door was not without technical changes - the engineers made the engine a little more powerful, improved handling and reconfigured the chassis.

On the outside, the Toyota GT86 is an unpretentious thoroughbred coupe, whose fighting spirit is emphasized in almost every detail. From all angles, the car looks much more expensive than it costs - an evil "face" with a menacing look of lighting technology and a bumper with a large "mouth" of the air intake and a "figured" splitter, a swift silhouette with a long hood, a backward-shifted cabin and a short "tail", cool stern with beautiful lanterns and a sculpted bumper. Even more sporty in the exterior of the two-door is extolled by the powerful "trunks" of the exhaust system, integrated into the bumper, and 17-inch wheel rims.

Toyota "GT86" is 4240 mm long, 1285 mm high and 1775 mm wide. Between the axles of the "Japanese" there is a 2570 mm wheelbase, and under the bottom there is a 130 mm ground clearance. In the "combat" position, the car weighs from 1240 to 1263 kg, depending on the version.

The interior of the GT86, as befits a light sports car, is devoid of any frills - everything is simple and tasteful, but nothing distracts from the road. A simple three-spoke steering wheel with an embossed rim, a clear instrument cluster with a dominant tachometer and an almost vertical console with a multimedia system, climate control “nuts” and auxiliary function toggle switches - the decoration of the two-door is imbued with the spirit of Japanese “lighters”. Good finishing materials are used inside the car, and the build quality is decent.

The front seats in the Toyota GT86 have effective side support, a grippy suede covering and ample adjustment ranges, and in general are profiled without any flaws. But the rear seats are purely nominal: if there is enough space for children, then adult passengers will definitely not be able to stay there for a long time.

The cargo compartment of the sports car is miniature - its volume is only 237 liters. At the same time, the transportation of massive luggage is severely limited by a full-size spare wheel located in the center of the "hold" (under the raised floor). But the back of the second row of seats folds in one piece, thereby freeing up space for long vehicles.

Specifications. The 2017 Toyota GT86 is armed with a 2.0-liter (1998 cubic centimeters) FA20 petrol boxer four, equipped with combined fuel injection (two injectors are allocated for each cylinder), exhaust and intake phase shifters and a 16-valve arrangement Timing

The engine output depends on the type of gearbox: with a 6-speed "mechanics" it generates 207 horsepower at 7000 rpm and 212 Nm of torque at 6400-6800 rpm, and with a 6-speed "automatic" - at 5 " horses "and 7 Nm of peak thrust is less (at similar rpm).

Despite its sporty essence, the GT86 does not shine with nimbleness: the maximum capabilities of the car do not exceed 210-226 km / h, and the starting spurt to the first “hundred” takes 7.6-8.2 seconds.

In mixed driving conditions, a two-door car consumes from 7.1 to 7.8 liters of fuel per 100 km of track, depending on the modification.

The base for the Toyota GT86 is a rear-wheel drive "bogie" with the power unit shifted as low and deep as possible into the base, so that the center of gravity of the car stretches at the level of 460 mm. The distribution of mass along the axles of the sports car is almost perfect - 53:47 in favor of the front end. High-strength lightweight steels are abundantly used in the body structure, and the hood is made of aluminum.
The car is equipped with independent suspensions front and rear: in the first case, MacPherson struts are mounted, and in the second - a four-link architecture (both there and there with transverse stabilizers and springs).
On the two-door, a rack and pinion steering mechanism with an electric power steering and variable characteristics is used. As a standard, the "Japanese" brake complex is formed by ventilated discs of all wheels with a diameter of 294 mm at the front and 290 mm at the rear, which are assisted by ABS, EBD, BAS, TRC and VRC. In addition, the basic version includes a rear limited slip differential (LSD).

Options and prices. The 2017 Toyota GT86 coupe will go on sale in the Japanese market in August 2016 at a price of 2,623,320 yen, and in the fall it will reach the United States (in both cases, the car is known without the suffix "GT"). By the end of the year, the implementation of the two-door car should begin in Europe, but the issue of its deliveries to Russia has not yet been resolved.
At the moment, in our country, a pre-reform version of a sports car is offered (and it is in scanty demand) in the Elegance, Prestige, Prestige Aero, Lux and Lux Aero trim levels at a price of 2,013,000 rubles for the basic solution. His list of equipment is small, but it has everything you need: seven airbags, air conditioning, ABS, ESP, a standard audio system, 17-inch wheel disks, fabric trim, two power windows, sports front seats, heated exterior mirrors with electric adjustment and folding as well as other "goodies".
