The German "Association of Technical Inspection Engineers" (VdTUV) in mid-November 2017 presented to the public another (twenty-first) rating of reliability of used cars sold in Germany - "TUV Report 2018".

When compiling the report, the specialists took into account information on the data of technical inspections of 8.8 million cars of 225 models common on the European market, divided into several age categories without specifying the classes.

The TUV 2018 rating reflects the percentage of malfunctions of the total number of tested cars that were tested at least 500 times between July 2016 and June 2017 (thus, collectible or rare "iron horses" were not included in the final report). It is worth noting that it takes into account only "serious defects" of vehicles associated with power units, electronic systems and other components, which (due to the severity of German laws) do not allow getting permission to travel on public roads.

The highest share of defects in this niche was demonstrated by Chevrolet Matiz (35.8%), Chevrolet Aveo (32.5%) and Dacia Logan (32%).
